Demon Hunter Impale PVP Build

This is simply an example of a usable spec for PVP. You'll note that certain abilities that do not get commonly used at higher level gear permutations are being used here.

Impale Chemical Burn is one of the few DoT abilities we have, and works amazingly well against other players. Between this and Cluster Arrow LFB, you should have no trouble downing targets with such high burst damage.

Spitfire turrets are to make use of the rockets, which can turn corners and follow players even if they go invisible, allowing you to track them. You'll notice that Sharpshooter is also being used in this spec as much of the "cat and mouse" time allows for significant build up of your critical hit chance and make sure that when you do it, you make it count.
Many players will also choose to use Companion Boar as well as Evasive Fire: Covering Fire, which is great, but does less damage (especially considering those high HP barbs these days) though requires practically 0 aiming. Big plus, it hits multiple targets

Gearing: Heavy weighting toward EHP with significantly less weighting toward DPS. Add as much discipline as you can for added survival with smoke screen spams. As players are considered "Elite" targets, high level Stones of Jordan (28-30% Bonus Elite damage) are valuable. Try to choose one with a skill bonus you use frequently.

Demon Hunter Build - Rapid Fire and Strafe 1.0.8

This is a post-1.08 patch build that combines rapid fire and strafe and is designed for MP10. In the fields of misery or dahlgur oasis, I use strafe to quickly herd up to 50-100 monsters into a ball, and then lay down valley of death and rapid fire to kill all of them in 10 seconds.

This build doesn't need a hatred generator. The hatred consumption rate of both rapid fire and strafe scales with attack speed. If you gear your items around having as low an attack speed as possible without sacrificing DPS (crafted bracers instead of lacunis, manticore instead of calamity, etc) you can easily achieve permanent rapid fire and can contiuously strafe for 20 seconds. When you are low on hatred, use preparation-punishment to restore it. Rapid fire has a very poor proc rate, so use strafe-demolition and nightstalker to replenish discipline.
Both rapid fire and strafe are snapshotting skills, meaning that when you begin to channel the skill, it will use your stats at the start (including life steal from shadow power) for as long as you continue the attack. Typically, I hit gloom, strafe for 3-4 seconds to herd monsters into a good spot, drop valley of death and start channeling rapid fire before gloom expires. As long as you never stop dealing damage, the life steal will allow you to facetank almost anything.

Gear recommendations:
You have a lot of flexibility. The basic principle is to maximize your DPS and EHP with the minimum amount of attack speed. For instance, my setup nets 220k+ dps / 700k+ EHP with 1.43 attacks per second. Getting 10-20 discipline and hatred regen from items also helps things run more smoothly. You may also find that using a godly black rare crossbow + inna's favor gives similar DPS to manticore + witching hour at a much lower attack speed.

Variants:
Marked for death is optional. Other good options worth mentioning are guardian turret for survivability, vault combined with tactical advantage, caltrops - bait the trap combined with cull the weak, rain of vengeance, and smoke screen.

Inferno Demon Hunter Whilrwind Build

Everyone loves a whirlwinding Barbarian. What if a Demon Hunter could do something similar? An Inferno build that allows the class to just run trough packs of mobs and melt the minions of hell like a hot knife going trough butter.

We can have that with this Demon Hunter Inferno build. Called Whirlwind Demon Hunter build, the skill setup manages to turn this glass cannon class into a frenzy melee champion that can eat through large packs of mobs. As expected, Strafe is the key asset that makes this possible. The only downside is Hatred management but there are ways to overcome this small inconvenience. A smart choice of skills and passives combined with decent gear that provides some level of survivability will make it possible to keep on strafing indefinitely trough dense packs of mobs.

Before we get into the details of Hatred management and skill utility we must have a look at the skill setup.

Left Mouse Button – Bola Shot with the Thunder Ball rune
Right Mouse Button – Strafe with the Demolition rune

Action Key 1 – Preparation with the Punishment rune
Action Key 2 – Shadow Power with the Gloomt rune
Action Key 3 – Chackram with the Suriken Cloud rune
Action Key 4 – Companion  with the Boar Companion rune

Passive Skill 1: Night Stalker
Passive Skill 2: Grenadier
Passive Skill 3: Vengeance

The Mechanics Of The Build

When we are looking at a ranged class build that requires a lot of melee action, survivability is the first thing that comes to mind. Nobody cares how big the damage numbers are if the Demon Hunter will die every single time he goes in the middle of a large pack of minions. The ability to survive is given by some of the skills used in this build. The Companion with the Boar Companion rune offers a flat 15% resistances to all types of damage which make the class just as solid as the Barbarian or the Monk.

Shadow Power is the second skill that grants a boost in terms of defensive skills. Whenever the situation becomes too difficult to get out of alive, Shadow Power can be used to mitigate another 35% of the total damage received and converting 15% of the damage done to hit points.

Now that the survivability concerns have been addressed, the sustainability of the setup needs some detailing. Hatred will be the main concern. As long as there is Hatred, Strafe will continue to channel. The secret is to get weapons with low attack speed. The skill works identical to the Monk Tempest Rush ability. A slow weapon will ensure that Hatred is not depleted to fast.

Next we have the Grenadier passive that creates a perfect synergy with the Demolition rune from Strafe. It will help significantly with Hatred regen. Still, when Hatred will run out, there is Preparation with the Punishment rune that will restore it to full at the cost of 25 Discipline and removes the cooldown on the skill which makes is spammable as long as there is enough Discipline. Actually, there should be enough Discipline since Night Stalker will sometimes generate 1 point per critical hit.

In ideal conditions, critical hit chance should be at least 30% but that should not be a challenge. If it is lower than that then maybe it is time to farm or get some gold and tweak the gear for some tankyness and critical hit chance and damage. With the right gear setup, this particular Inferno Demon Hunter build will prove to be more than viable and fun at the same time.

Build in action.
